The primordial god in Slavic mythology. Traditionally depicted as the head of the pantheon, yet his importance has degraded over time. This is most likely related to the evolution of the Slavic culture over time. His role as chief of the pantheon is later passed on to Perun.
Interestingly enough, Rod used to be trapped in an egg. We do not know who laid that egg, but we suppose it does not matter. After all, it was Rod who created the universe, as well as the first gods: Lada and Svarog.
