The name “Ninshubur” means queen in the East. Ninshubur acts as the Sukkal (second in command) for the Mesopotamian god Inanna. Her main task consists of delivering messages to other gods on behalf of her mistress. Her most famous act is arguably saving Inanna after she was killed by Ereshkigal during her attempted conquest of Kur.
During this darkest hour of her mistress, it was Ninshubur who pleaded with Enki for the resurrection of Inanna. By convincing Enki, Ninshubur saved Inanna and restored balance in the Mesopotamian pantheon.
