Gridr was a giantess lover of Odin. She was the mother of one of his children, Vidar.
Gridr has multiple magical artefacts that she lends out to Thor at some point, so that he can slay another giant. These artefacts include a belt of might, two iron gloves and a staff that is Gridr’s pole (Grídarvöl).
She is also mentioned as being the wife of King Dan I of Denmark. She is said to have born him two sons, thus contributing to the legendary royal Danish house of Scylding.
