Enki

Enki was the Mesopotamian god of water, wisdom, mischief, and creation. His name literally means “lord of the earth”.

He was the son of Anu and Nammu. He was the (alleged) father of many (too many to list here).

Enki is the mastermind behind the creation of humanity. Both gods and humans alike would often seek his help and wise counsel, which is why he has a prominent role in Mesopotamian mythology.

If you ever look at the Mesopotamian pantheon to trace the lineages of the gods, your face will either form an awkward smile or a desperate frown. The reason for this facial expression is Enki’s romantic escapades, which were often of a questionable nature.
