Aphrodite

Aphrodite is the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty and pleasure. Regarding her origins, there are a few different stories. In one story, Aphrodite is born from a mixture between foam of the sea and the seed of Uranus‘ cut-off genitals. In another story, Aphrodite is regarded as the daughter of Zeus and the nymph Dione.

Aphrodite is married to the blacksmithing god Hephaestus. Despite their sacred bond, she was rather unfaithful to him. Her affair with Ares, the god of war, might have been her most well-known misstep. Aphrodite and Ares were caught in the act of cheating when Hephaestus caught the two lovebirds in his bed. The disgruntled husband quickly threw a heavy net over the (still entangled) lovers and exposed them for all to see.
